Step-by-step walking routes between platforms in Japan's busiest stations, with the exact Japanese signs to follow.

Ueno Station transfer guide 上野駅

Transfers at Ueno Station for visitors: Keisei Ueno (Skyliner) to JR Ueno, JR to the Tohoku, Joetsu and Hokuriku Shinkansen, and JR to the Ginza Line, with the Japanese signs to follow.

Two different stations

Keisei Ueno and JR Ueno are separate stations across the road from each other. Changing between them means leaving one station and walking to the other.

One Shinkansen gate

There is only one transfer gate between JR local lines and the Shinkansen at Ueno. Follow the green Shinkansen signs down, not up.

Ueno Park

The JR Park Exit leads straight to Ueno Park, the zoo and the museums.
