Three levels

The Shinkansen platforms are on 3F, the transfer gates on 2F and the JR local platforms on 1F. The subway is underground on the north side.

Long platforms, far apart

The Sagano Line platforms are at the far west end of the station. Allow extra time for the walk.

Buses get crowded

For Fushimi Inari and Arashiyama, the JR lines are usually faster and more reliable than the city buses.
