Step-by-step walking routes between platforms in Japan's busiest stations, with the exact Japanese signs to follow.

Shinjuku Station transfer guide 新宿駅

Transfers at Shinjuku Station for visitors: JR to the Odakyu Line (Romancecar to Hakone), the Keio Line and the Toei Oedo Line, with walking times and the Japanese signs to follow.

Several stations in one

JR, Odakyu, Keio, Tokyo Metro and Toei each run their own station at Shinjuku, with their own gates. Follow the line name on the signs, not just "Shinjuku".

Know your exit side

Odakyu and Keio are on the west side. The Toei Oedo and Shinjuku Lines are to the south-west. Picking the right side saves a long walk.

Use an IC card

Suica or PASMO lets you pass the transfer gates between companies without buying a new ticket each time.
