Shin-Osaka Station transfer guide 新大阪駅

Shinkansen transfers at Shin-Osaka Station for visitors heading into Osaka: Shinkansen to the JR Kyoto Line (Osaka / Umeda) and the Midosuji subway line (Umeda, Namba), with walking times and signs to follow.

Shin-Osaka is not Osaka

The Shinkansen stops at Shin-Osaka, one stop north of Osaka (Umeda) on JR. Change trains here to reach the city centre.

Four levels

The Shinkansen platforms are on the top floor, the transfer gates on 3F, the subway on 2F and the JR local platforms on 1F.

JR or subway?

The JR Kyoto Line is quickest to Osaka Station. The Midosuji Line is better for Namba, Shinsaibashi and Tennoji.
