The Narita Express arrives on the Sobu / Yokosuka Line platforms on the fifth basement level (B5). From there you ride long escalators up to the concourse and cross to the Yaesu side, where the Tokaido Shinkansen platforms are.

You stay inside the JR gates the whole way and pass through a Shinkansen transfer gate at the end. Because of the depth and distance, allow 15–20 minutes, more with large suitcases.

  • Do not exit through a ticket gate on the way up. Follow the blue Shinkansen signs until you reach a Shinkansen transfer gate.
  • With large luggage, look for elevators along the way. They are slower but avoid the long escalators.
  • On the Tokaido Shinkansen, a suitcase over 160 cm (length + width + height) needs a reserved seat with an oversized baggage area. Book it with your ticket.
